Enterprise architecture is the arrangement of the components and relationships within the company, its business model, process organization and the manner in which they are supported by information, information systems and technology to achieve business goals.

Properties of enterprise architecture are influenced by the quality and integration of the business architecture, IT architecture and other particular architectures.

Its design is a key task demanding not only understanding of the goals of the company and its business strategy, but also knowledge of business, management and decisionmaking processes and methods, and not least the possibility of supporting information and communication technologies.

Knowledge of IT systems is as important as understanding the business processes and business strategy.
